Full Moon in Aquarius: What If There's Another Way?

Full Moon in Aquarius: What If There's Another Way?

Moon Rise: 15:36 BST • 29th July 2026

Tonight's Full Moon falls in Aquarius and is traditionally known as the Buck Moon.

Named after the time of year when young deer begin growing new antlers, the Buck Moon reflects the changing rhythms of the natural world. While the name itself comes from seasonal observations, it's often seen as a symbol of growth and renewal.

Every Full Moon marks the peak of the lunar cycle. Traditionally, it's a time for reflection and release; an opportunity to pause, acknowledge what's come to fruition and consider what you're ready to leave behind before the next lunar cycle begins.

With this Full Moon taking place in Aquarius, those familiar themes are accompanied by something a little different: curiosity.

Rather than asking us to have all the answers, Aquarius gently reminds us of the value of asking questions.

When Did We Stop Being Curious?

As children, curiosity comes naturally.

We ask questions about everything, try new things simply to see what happens and rarely worry about whether we're doing it the "right" way. We explore because we want to understand the world around us.

As we grow older, that curiosity often becomes quieter. We find routines that work, discover familiar ways of doing things and gradually become more comfortable with certainty than exploration.

There's nothing wrong with that. Familiarity can bring comfort and stability.

But every now and then, it's worth asking whether we've stopped questioning something simply because it's become familiar.

The Full Moon in Aquarius reminds us that curiosity doesn't disappear as we grow older. Sometimes it simply waits for an invitation to return.

Looking at Things Through Fresh Eyes

Have you ever found yourself stuck on a problem, only for somebody else to point out something you'd never considered?

The situation hasn't changed.

Your perspective has.

Sometimes a conversation, a book, a walk in nature or even a Tarot card can help us notice something we've been overlooking all along. Not because it gives us the answer, but because it encourages us to look from a different angle.

This Full Moon invites us to stay open to those moments.

Instead of asking, "What's the right answer?" perhaps we can begin with a gentler question: What if there's another way?

There Is More Than One Path

It's easy to believe there's a right way to approach life.

The right way to decorate our homes.

The right way to be creative.

The right way to practise spirituality.

The right way to build a business.

The right way to spend our weekends.

Yet some of the most meaningful discoveries happen when we step away from what we think we should be doing and explore what feels right for us instead.

Aquarius is often associated with innovation and originality, but that doesn't always mean making dramatic changes. Sometimes it simply means giving yourself permission to try something different, even if it's something small.

Curiosity isn't about abandoning everything that's familiar. It's about allowing yourself to wonder what else might be possible.

Journal Prompts for the Full Moon in Aquarius

If you'd like to spend a little time reflecting beneath tonight's Full Moon, you might like to explore these questions:

︎ What have I accepted without questioning?

︎ Where in my life could a fresh perspective help me?

︎ Is there something I've been curious about but haven't explored?

︎ What would I do if I stopped worrying about doing it the "right" way?

︎ What small change could help me see something differently?

You don't need to answer every question tonight.

Sometimes simply asking them is enough.

A Simple Full Moon in Aquarius Ritual

The Full Moon is traditionally a time for release, while Aquarius reminds us that growth often begins by questioning old patterns and remaining open to new possibilities.

You'll need:

︎ A small piece of paper

︎ A pen

︎ A candle or fire-safe bowl (if you plan to burn the paper)

Begin by writing down one label, expectation or belief that no longer feels true for you.

Perhaps it's:

I'm not creative.

I always have to do things this way.

It's too late to try something new.

People like me don't...

Spend a few quiet moments reflecting on where that belief came from and whether it still deserves a place in your life.

If it's safe to do so, carefully burn the paper in a fire-safe bowl, allowing it to become a symbolic act of release. If burning isn't possible, tearing it into small pieces works just as well.

Once you've done that, choose one small thing you'll intentionally do differently over the coming week.

︎ Take a different route on your walk.

︎ Try a recipe you've never made before.

︎ Read a book that's outside your usual genre.

︎ Visit somewhere new.

︎ Start the creative project you've been thinking about.

The action itself doesn't need to be significant. The intention is simply to step outside what's familiar and remind yourself that there isn't only one way forward.

As this Full Moon lights the night sky, perhaps its greatest invitation isn't to find all the answers. Perhaps it's simply to remain curious enough to keep asking questions.
